Cinema without Barriers
Implemented since 2022, it grew out of the previous experiences of the CK ZAMEK Social Programs Department (including the "Sensitive Images" project).
It is both a series of accessible film screenings and an initiative combining practice, industry education, and international cooperation.
The project is based on four main pillars:
1. Accessible, regular screenings and film events
The
foundation of the project consists of regular screenings held under the
programs "Open Cinema," "Cinema Without Barriers – Polish Edition," and
"Cinema Without Barriers." All films are adapted to the needs of people
with visual and hearing disabilities (audio description, subtitles, and
Polish Sign Language). An extension of this idea is the "Cinema Without
Barriers Review" and "Cinema Without Barriers on the Road," which
brings accessible culture to smaller towns in the Wielkopolska region.

2. Expert industry Forum
Forum
Without Barriers. On Accessible Cinema, the first edition of which was
held in 2024, is a recurring conference entirely dedicated to
accessibility in cinematography. The event has become a key meeting
point for film industry representatives from all over Europe, serving as
a platform for exchanging knowledge and building systemic solutions for
the industry.

3. International activities
Through
the "Cinema Without Barriers" project (funded by the Creative Europe
MEDIA program), CK ZAMEK acts as the leader of an international
consortium. In addition to Kino Pałacowe, the participants include:
TISZApART Mozi from Hungary, Cinema Elvire Popesco from Romania,
Kulturni dom Cerknica from Slovenia, and Kino Lumière from Slovakia. The
aim of this cooperation is to exchange knowledge and experience between
film institutions in Central and Eastern Europe.
4. Research and Publications
As part of our activities, we conduct research on audience needs and create practical "Accessible Cinema Toolbox" – bilingual guides for cinemas and cultural institutions that want to become more open and inclusive.

5. Industry visibility and awards
The high substantive quality and innovativeness of the project have been recognized many times.
