Forum Without Barriers. On Accessible Cinema
Forum Without Barriers. On Accessible Cinema, organized since 2024 by the CK ZAMEK Cultural Centre in Poznań, is the first conference in Poland and one of the few in the world fully dedicated to cinema accessibility.
Every year, the event brings together over 200 representatives of the film sector, including distribution companies, cinemas, festivals, production studios, cultural institutions, and NGOs.
About Forum Without Barriers
The Forum was born out of a genuine need for industry dialogue. Instead of treating accessibility as a cost, the event promotes it as an opportunity for audience development and a modern market strategy. The program includes:
• Expert panels and lectures.
• Workshops with self-advocates.
• Research and diagnosis: analysis of the industry's knowledge regarding accessibility.
• Technological solutions.
Forum bez barier is not just theory, but real systemic change:
• The „Film for All” Initiative: formed by a group of film industry experts, accessibility organizations, and researchers. The common goal of the Initiative is to develop systemic solutions that ensure equal access to film culture for everyone.
• The Accessibility Team at the Polish Film Institute: which includes members of the „Film for All” Initiative.
• The Accessible Cinematography Group at the Accessibility Council (Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy), which also includes members of the „Film for All” Initiative.
• An increasing number of accessible film copies on the Polish market.
• The Forum bez barier Gala, during which we award and co-finance the distribution of films with accessibility features.
• Film market research in Poland.
